Travel Information

Freiburg is located in the south-west corner of Germany directly at the boarder to France and Switzerland.

Airports

International travelers can fly to Frankfurt international airport, Euro Airport Basel Mulhouse or Zurich airport.

Frankfurt Airport has the highest number of international connections and an airport train station, from which you can take a direct high speed train (ICE) to Freiburg main station. Travel by train takes 2.5-3hrs. Depending on the time of the day trains to Freiburg will leave every 30 min to 1 hr.

From Zurich Airport a transfer by bus to the main Zurich train station is necessary. From there you can take a train with stop-over in Basel (duration around 2hrs).

Euro Airport Basel Mulhouse is the closest to Freiburg, but mostly serves regional/european planes. Passenger need to leave the airport through the French not Swiss gates. From there you can take a shuttle bus (hourly service) to Freiburg main station, which will take around 1hr. Alternatively you can book a private shuttle, usually transporting several passenger, which will collect you at the time of your arrival and bring you directly to the hotel (45min drive). A return ticket on the bus will be 45 Euros, on the private shuttle 74 Euros. Shuttles can be booked under:

Train
